What kind of choices are there for someone who went to emergency services having no medical insurance?

and he definitely can't afford the medical bill they charged over USD $1,500?

  1. Call the hospital during business hours and ask to speak to someone in the Billing department. A lot of hospitals have what they call Charity Care, which can cover bills for the uninsured. Even if you don't qualify for that, they can work out a payment plan (even as low as $20 per month). Just don't let it go to collections, since there is nothing the hospital can do after that.


  2. Contact the hospital's billing dept and ask for a payment plan to pay it off over time.  Or, borrow the money elsewhere.
