  1. What the h**l are cleats?

  2. it depends what position you play.the tight 5 mostly wear high top, hard toed boots with 3/4"alum cleats.flankers and 8s wear low top, hard toe.scrumhalfs and backs wear moulded soccer type shoes.i have see alot of aussie backs play barefoot.just about anything your used to will work,as long as it dose'nt have a toe cleat.its not allowed.

  3. Aluminium with a kite mark that shows that they will not burr up if scratched or worn on hard surfaces.

Some guys are wearing the US style blades but they get a bad rap for knee injuries.

In the summer or on hard packed dirt pitches in the winter you should have a pair of moulded stud boots handy.  You have more, shallower, softer studs to get better grip and these are way more comfy if the ground underfoot is hard.  As the ground thaws you'll need a 6 or 8 stud boot for deeper traction, mouldies skid in soft turf.
