i service pool tables for a living. You use special pool table cloth. Some of the brands are championship(we use it most of the time) Gorina and Simonis more expensive.

High quality tables will have baize covering(a high quality woollen cloth the same as used on snooker tables) whereas cheaper tables will just have a standard low quality cotton cloth covering
