  1. Check around the golf courses and country clubs.  Guys are always changing their clubs.  You could probably pick up a pretty nice set of second hand Pings or Callaways.  You really should consider getting a driver at a place where you can try some out first.

As a woman, I was lucky to pick up my first set of Callaways from a woman who golfed frequently and even made it into the papers for a hole in one.  She had only had the clubs for a year when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  She seemed pleased to pass the torch on to me, a newbie.  Since that time, I have bought a new set of Callaways.  Love them and the game of golf!!

  2. Take a look at the Cobra irons.  They are easy to hit, high and good distance, and not too expensive for a brand new set.  The Calloway, Ping, and Taylors are all pretty high end for someone who only plays twice a month.  The other alternative is a used set.

  3. U should get a second hand Callaway set. They are very forgiving clubs and may help u 2 improved your handicap.Try it and good luck.

  4. Hi,

I would go with either ping or calloway - whatever clubs you end up with, try spining the shafts with a good quality spinefinder. By aligning the shafts correctly you will see a marked difference in the length of your shots. This in turn will bring your handicap down even further. There are several companies making good quality spinefinders - I bought mine from the following website:-

Hope this helps  - and good luck !

  5. I bought a set of Cleveland TA-6s, a few years ago and love them.  I had them regripped with tan Winn wraps.  I love them.  I suggest you go to a dealer and swing everything and narrow it down that way.  We can tell you what we like, but you might want to go to a dealer and swing everything they have, thats the only way you'll find what it is you like and think feels the best.

  6. Hi, with crappy clubs like you mentioned, you are already playing Handicap 22. That's awesome. Guess you can get some good buys from Far East Shopping Centre. Or rather, you can consider customed clubs ie PING. Per iron is roughly abt 230. Order over a few months, probably wont feel the pinch. That's wat one of my girl friends did.

    Good luck!

  7. IMO, you should get these
