Question:

What kind of coax connector is this?

This is driving me nuts. I bought an old used pre-amp for my Police Scanner that is made by Uniden. It's a BC004 ultra wide band preamp. It has a very unusual female connection on it that is basically just a hole. The closest thing to what it looks like would be a Phono Headphone jack, but it's not. The coax connector it takes has just one large pin that bulges a little bit on the sides to provide a connection when it is inserted which acts like the outer shield, like on an RCA connector. What I need to know is what kind of connector this is called? I need to order the Male counterpart from an electronics supply store, so I can install it to the end of my coax. The connector looks like it works with RG6 Coax as far as diameter. Best answer for the one who can identify this plug!

Here is a list of connectors that it is not: BNC, RCA, UHF, N, F, or SO-239.

  1. What you are looking for is called a Motorola Connector.  That's what that preamp needs.  Here's a link to a picture for you.

  2. sounds like a rg mini connector, sma, or pl connector.. could be others as well.. anyway you could provide a picture?

  3. A picture of it would be useful.
