  1.   Depends but you get trained to take somebody out with a fist or a finger im assuring you. Im from slovakia and the military and police use same brutallity. The military will grab the head of the person in hand to hand combat and smash their face against their knee until they die but the police will not use this tactic offen

  2. No combat training, we train in defensive tactics, use of force, how to defuse a situation.  Also have to qualify quarterly with the weapons carried.

  3. here is one of them!

  4. six days a week two hours a day

they watch Death Wish 1 through 6

  5. You can rest assured they're not working out with Granny or doing katas at the local storefront dojo.

  6. We do very little combat training. The training we do is mostly defensive.

We are taught to control, not to fight. If someone wants to fight, we escalate to pepper spray, taser, or baton.

  7. Varies widely between agencies.

PPCT is generally taught around the country. As others have said, it focuses mostly on defensive moves.

There is also law enforcement systems for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, systema, ect Many academies may still just teach some straight up boxing or judo as you mentioned.

Most do some sort of blend, incorporating simple but effective techniques along with things like baton use, cuffing, ect. For example, at our regional academy. We do a 72 hour block of PPCT, 8 hours on the LVRN and Clamp each, 24 hours of ground fighting (judo) and 16 hours of systema (sucks BTW...I wish they would substitute something else for it).

Bottom line though, officers are training for self defense. Not to be a street fighter. I train extensively in BJJ, but I still won't roll around with someone in the street unless absolutely necessary. If a fight escalates, I am going for my OC, taser, baton, ect.
