Education of all types is the most fundamental way to help others.  With education, people are able to progress.  There are studies that show that educated woman and people in general are the indicators for a country becoming developed.  Education includes teaching English (if you don't know their language that well), learning how to read, health classes (HIV/AIDS education, cross-contamination, nutritional cooking).  There are programs out there, depending on your time and resources.  Check out www.amerispan.com, www.dreamproject.org, www.peacecorps.gov

It doesn't matter if we're talking about "first  world countries", second world countries, or third, fourth, or fifth world countries... The greatest need that anyone has is to know Christ as their Savior and Lord.

I don't know of anything that has impacted the lives of people living anywhere more than coming to know the Savior.  America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and has prospered greatly..  But a Country's morality is only as good as the morality of its individuals.  The values of true Christianity not only benefit the individual, but they also benefit the community in which they are appreciated.

The world needs more Christians that are willing to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Knowing Christ is life changing, community changing, and world changing.

Sharing the Gospel is the most beneficial kind of "community service" that any Christian can engage in.  It goes without saying that this ministry would include providing medical help for the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and teaching people how to "fish" for themselves.

heya.  Well for one things, organizing food and clothing donations certainly can help out, but people have to stop giving just creamed corn and pumpkin mix....
