What kind of computer should I get?

Question

I am a high school student who is very involved in writing and who has to do a lot of word processing, powerpoint, etc. I am always on the go and therefore I would prefer a laptop, but if there are desktops that you would recommend then feel free. The Compaq that I have just crashed after 3 years. I have heard pros and cons about macs, but they have me interested. Should I go with a Mac, Windows or something else? Let me know what you think.

Dell isn't the best computers, but they definitely stick behind their customer support 150%. This computer would be great for a high school student. It's a 2.4GHz dual core (stock), so it would be pretty good. You save $700, so that's a reason to get it. I recommend the XPS M1130. I bought one, and I <3 it as much as my XPS 420.

If i were you i wouldnt waste my money on a mac. I would recommed a sony vaio with 2 gigs of ram or more...

go for a microsoft or a linux based pc

prefer microsoft:

frame ur budget and know that there re many types of pc available in the market commonly classified under;

1.gaming pcs(expensive)

with high video memory

2.business pcs(mid range)

for dbms management

3.educational pc's(cheap at cost enough for word processors)

what ever u think but prefera core2 duo pro as it will allow u a base for future intrests that u may develop also and amd x2 is advisable ...coz todays ide's/softwares ask demand more processor capacity to perform...

more on chose mother board as per u r need any simple mother board with built in memory will be gr8 for word processing....i recommend u go for the best u can avail to facilitate u r future interests beware the gaming world demands more keeps spinning forward
