Im 22 years old and have never really had a problem with applying makeup but lately my face makeup isnt coming out so great and I now have red blotches on my face mainly on my cheeks and right above my eyebrows and i also have a little bit of acne which doesn't bother me as much as the redness.. because it isn't as noticeable but i also have a red tone but only on my face.. what kind of concealer, foundation and powder should i be using? Or should i only be using one. I don't want my face to look cakey or like i have alot of makeup on.. but i doubt anyone does. Im also not looking to spend a ton of money either but if itll work i guess i could splurge. Thanks! =]

  1. Go to a dermatoligist, they should be able to give you advice on your makeup, and more importantly find out what is causing your skin to breakout. Good luck!

  2. To remove red areas use a green corrective concealer.

Go to this website to get a better understanding of corrective concealers

they really do work! lots of brands sell them such as MAC, napoleon perdis, clinique and smashbox etc

I use a green concealer. I spot it onto the red spots on my face mostly acne scars, then blend it lightly with a sponge. let it set for a minute (do your eye makeup while you wait) then apply a light liquid foundation over top so your face isnt green anymore. This works for me. Just rememeber not to use too much!

There are some high coverage flesh colored concealers that work great  but requires a heavy-duty, yellow-based concealer with a high pigment level is needed. Morrice Williams suggests using a pointed fibre brush first to ensure precise application. Then "use your fingertips to lightly press the concealer into the skin and then set it with loose powder."

  3. You want to try to use powder. You shouldn't be using all three things because i can grantee that is what started it all. You use to much foundation or concealer, your face will get really oily. And it will stay oily even when you try to wash it. Some of the oil will go away but not all of it. Powder is a very good type of foundation to use because it keeps your face dry enough so that you won't break out. try to use a powder that is light on your skin like that bare minerals. It works wonders. But make sure that you are using some that matches your skin tone because if not, you will look like your covered in makeup.

  4. agh,

you should log on to sheere cover, its a great make up that alot of makeup artists and model use and its not so  expencive. it relly does the trick and you get a dvd on hints and tips of application when you buy your fiorst pack.

  5. try bare minerals. your skin sounds like it doesnt like your foundation. it may be expired. smell it. if it smells funky than throw it out. if it smells fine than try switching to a different and more organic foundation line. there are great drugstore mineral brands too.

    hope this helps

p.s. try a concealer with some salicylic acid like neutrogena's concealer
