I have slight astigmatisms in both eyes. My glasses are a 1.75. I really hate wearing them and can't afford Lasik. My optomitrist told me I could never wear contact...Is he mistaken??? I have friends with astigmatisms that wear contact!

  1. of course you can wear contacts im getting them and i have astigmatism.yes go to a diff eye doc. ok?

    :-)

  2. The soft ones are called toric lens.  You can also wear the gas permeable hard lens.  It is said the hard lens give you better vision.  I use to work with an optometrist and I am sure a lot has changed since then.  You can go to another eye doctor and see what they say.

  3. The astigmatism alone would have to be very peculiar indeed to rule out contacts.  There are lots of brands of astigmatism correcting (toric) contacts...

Anyway I see it, on the information you've given, you need a second opinion.

There *are* people who are not suitable for contacts for *other* reasons.  But either your optometrist is too unsure or lazy to fit toric contacts, or has failed to communicate the real reason you're not a good candidate.  Any which way...

  4. there is a specific knd of cotact for astigmatism

  5. They have contacts called Torics for people with astigmatism. Get a second opinion from another optometrist.

Avoid Lasik. It's not a permanent solution either, and can ruin your eyes down the road.

  6. Yes, u can wear contacts like bausch&lomb.

  7. I dont know if you have a special kind of astigmatism but I know that they make Activue Oasis contacts specifically for astigmatism.

  8. Not sure why you were told you could not wear contacts.  You might consider a second opinion by a reputable doctor.
