I'm building a bike from scratch and I already have a raleigh frame. I do not know the year or model but was wondering if it mattered what kind of crankest I buy? would any one work or does it have to be a certain brand or measurement?

  1. bassically go to a bike shop and say if it is a mountain bike or bmx or whatever and say how many chainwheels it has if it is a mountain bike and they will give you what one and if you dont know then just find out the size of your whole frame and tell them and they can still tell you but most bmx ones and mountain bike ones will fit on it

  2. It must match the inner diameter of the crank tube on the bike and have threads that match the threads on a bike. most brands can work on most bikes. talk to a bike shop and they can point you in the right direction for your specific frame. remember you don't have to buy from them. their help is free but you may be able to find better deals else where or online at sites like pricepoint.com or bikenashbar.com

  3. i wouldnt say so  just get a strong 3 piece
