What kind of currency does honduras (in central america) use?

im going to be taking a trip to honduras next week, and i don't know what type of currency they use! i be able to use my american money or should i trade it in for something else? this isn't like a vacation its a mission trip... so i don't know if that changes anything!

  1. The lempira (i believe it is abbreviated HNL for some reason).  Most latin american countries accept dollars though (USD) you just might get screwed in the exchange if you don't do your math right while purchasing, they all bargain though, list price is NOT the final price.
