  1. Real flowers,

photo frames so that I can add photos of my family and my husbands family....along with photos of myself and my husband from birth to present.

  2. Flowers and candles! You can never go wrong with that combo.

  3. I'm not really into lots of decor for my wedding.  I think it's a waste of money to have stuff just "sit" there for the night. And our venue is REALLY beautiful just plain.  We are having a Christmas wedding, so the venue will have garlands on the two fireplaces (provided by the venue), and wreaths in the windows (also provided by the venue).  We aren't even doing centerpieces because the tables are long rectangles.

I am going to make dark cranberry velveteen runners for each table and then just have three white votive candles in holds down the centre.  No flowers, not fabric hanging or chair covers.  I'm one for simple and elegant (and cheap).

We *might* have some poinsettias sitting on the bar and cake table, but that's only if I can get them cheap and if they will not look out-of-place or too distracting.

    Good Luck!

  4. One of the prettiest weddings I went to was a winter wedding in the San Francisco bay area.  The reception was at a winery that had dark wood paneling and fireplaces.  The couple decorated with green pine boughs, white flowers (casablanca lilies and roses for sure), white candles, and white Christmas lights. The effect was stunning, and the "feel" was warm and comfortable without being fussy (and feeling like you were going to break something or use the wrong fork).

  5. I personally like wedding decor that doesn't look like wedding decor- no candles, flowers, or lace for me!  I am a whimsical, quirky, fun person, and so is my fiance, and neither of us like stuffy, foofy celebrations with giant centerpieces or monogrammed napkins.  We're choosing to hold our wedding in a lovely garden-patio type place in a park, which eliminates the need for additional floral decor, and then we're having a casual, fun reception at my favorite Mexican restaurant, which is already done up in a bright, busy "Fiesta" motif, so we're pretty much leaving it as is.  We're spending the money we would have used on decor for things guests actually care about- like food and alcohol.  I've never heard a guest say, "Wow, that reception would have been SO much better if they had more elegant centerpieces!" but people tend to remember if the food was good, the booze was free, and the music was rockin'.  So those are our major priorities.

  6. I like floral centerpieces as long as they are not too tall, and candles.  I also like plain candles with rose petals scattered everywhere.  That what I did or my wedding.
