What kind of decor for front lawn with cedar wood all over?!?!?!?

My husband decided he did not want soil in the front yard and one day, ripped the bushes out, but replaced both sides of our front porch with cedar wood chips! It looks awful, and I told him so. He said he spent to much money to take it out and put top soil. I bought a trellis to try to distract the eye away from the wood chips. I have a few very small bushes planted that you can hardly see because the wopod chips are so deep. I also bought a few pots and planted some flowers to put on the porch. I need this house to look good! Did I mention it's up for sale?! So do I NEED a border? Cutting the grass always picks up the chips & chops them up. Building a wall is to expensive for me, PLEASE HELP!

first of all wood chips go around plantings, he did not have to take the bushes out.  I would plant some nice little shrubs here and there if you don't want to spend too much money, you can also fill in with little plantings but you do need something.
