  1. It depends on what interests you. I agree with the other answer that a business degree is a good choice, but it's definately not the only choice.

Within the business degree there are several choices. If you have an interest in starting your own business a degree in International business would be good. If you like hotels or restaurants and degree in Hotel/restaurant management is a good choice too.

There are some other non-business choices also. If you like to write you could get a degree in journalism. Most Central American countries have English newspapers. With a journalism degree you could be a writer for one of these newspapers. If you are interested in doing missionary work a cross cultural degree or missionary degree would be better suited. If you love to teach, there are numerous schools looking for American teachers in all disiplines. You almost always need a teaching certification for these schools.

In reality, you can get a degree in anything and use it. Third world countries need well trained people in just about any discipline there is. The few I mentioned may be easier to obtain visas for than some I didn't mention, but in the end obtaining a visa is just a formality.

Any degree really, combined with some cross cultural classes and a Spanish minor would be a wonderful choice.

I think you will love living in another country. It will change into a person you never thought you could become! Best of luck to you!!!

  2. You can always do something with a business degree... that is without a doubt the most versatile degree at many colleges/universities... You could run your own business or work at many different places with a background in business.
