i'm really new to cameras and have never owned an slr type before. i only have between $200-300. and, because this is my first, i don't want something too expensive or too professional. i'm wondering what type of camera i should look for? which kind is best for starters with the best quality?

thank you so much for your help :)

  1. It may be possible to get a used Nikon D50, possibly a D70, or Canon Digital Rebel (EOS 300D) and a lens off ebay for under $300. If you're comfortable with buying used from ebay, you can get many great deals that you wouldn't find elsewhere. Another option would be to save up a bit more and raise your budget to about $450-$500 -- this'll give you a lot more room to work with. If you save up until the fall, this'll also be beneficial because there's usually some great rebates available immediately before and during the holiday season.

  2. I am getting this: An orange Olympus 8 megapixel. This one:http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_sectio...

    In orange its $300.00

  3. The least expensive DSLR at present is just under $470 (on Amazon).  You will have to raise your budget a little.

That said, before you buy a DSLR you may want to start with a used 35 mm SLR and take a class in photography to learn how to use all of the SLR features (f/stop, shutter speeds, ISO choices, lens choices and choice of composition)
