if it's not a first date and you two are comfortable with each other, make homemade pizza at one of your homes!  You can buy fresh dough at some grocery stores (or make it yourself ahead of time...)  That way you can have fun making the meal together, plus pizza is very customizable, so even the pickiest eater can enjoy themselves.  Wine and candlelight go great with pizza as well...  ;)

Special home-cooked dinners always deliver romance!  Depending on your special person's taste, try:

- steak on the grill

- pasta with mozzarella, tomato and basil

- fondue

- risotto with portabello mushrooms

If you cannot cook, try:

- a seafood restaurant

-  a cozy Italian restaurant

- a restaurant with private seating for two (reserved in advance, of course!  And arrange for flowers)

- any candlelit cafe
