What kind of discipline and when?

When should discipline start, and what kinds for which ages? My 13-month-old is definitely starting to need it, and I don't even know where to start. He is extremely willful with a very strong personality-a total character, very funny....but he is starting to need some guidelines. Okay, he's been needing it for a while but it seemed too early! What is the right kind of discipline for his age, and older?

tell him no in a nice calm way, with a very strick stern look to show him you are serious, or put him in his crib for a time out.

Have you heard of spare the rod spoil the child. I believe in spanking on the butt, and i believe discipline should never be done out of anger, anger you can hurt the child and you want to teach them not hurt them. Always discipline out of love.

Just simple time-outs. If it's not anything that bad, 5 mins. If its something really bad, 10 minutes. Or tell him you'll take his toys away..
