What kind of doctor do I need to see?

On 1 May 2008, I tripped, fell and my head hit a brick wall. I was transported to the ER, because I was pregnant and they did nothing. The doctor barely looked at me. I was cleaned up and given a band-aid for the softball size bump on my forehead. Now, my vision has worsened and I have pain in my eye and it hurts to turn my head. I never had this before. It must have something to do with the fall.

I don't have just a general practice doctor and I like to see specialists.

  1. i think you should go to an oculist

  2. softball sized bump? thats a little extreme. sounds more like a tumor to me.

  3. Go to another doctor

  4. A neurologist.

  5. Haha, did people laugh when they say it?

    BOOM HEADSHOT!!!!!!!!!

  6. I think it's Orthopedic for the neck and Optometrist for the eyesight.  In addition you may want to get a catscan to see if there is any internal bleeding in your brain.

  7. optomoligest

  8. go to the neurologist or the eye doctors. probably neurologist. thats not good and you definitly are doing the right thing by going to a specialist.

  9. a neurologist or a optometrist.

  10. Sounds like you suffered an injury to either your brain (concussion) or your neck (could even be a fracture not healing right).  Either one is nerve related, and you need a CT of both your head and neck.

See a neurologist.  After that, see a lawyer.  No diagnostics for a head injury, and a pregnant woman at that?  You'll make some lawyer very happy...

Good luck!  Remember me when you get your settlement...

  11. A neurosurgeon. You may have a spinal injury, not to mention damage to your skull.

You should really return to the ER right now, and not wait for any appointment. They should get an MRI, and you should request the neurosurgeon see you as a consultant in the ER.

When, I say, right now, that means right now. If you have no ride, call 911 for an ambulance.

  12. You should probably see a neurologist or maybe a neurosurgeon. Neurosurgeons can deal with brain and spinal problems. But right now the best bet would be neurologist, if they think a neurosurgeon needs to be in on the case they could refer you to one. An ophthalmologist wouldn't really be the way to go, yes they deal with eyes and vision, but it is more likely that your vision problem was due to the head injury. So neuro would be the best option. If there was any brain injury from the fall, they would be able to say whether or not that is causing the vision problems. You might have to see a different doc for the neck pain, but right now I would be more concerned about the vision as that could be a sign of brain injury or a neurological problem. They might be able to do something about the neck, or they could refer you to an ortho or spine specialist.

I would definitely get that checked ASAP though!

  13. google it, or go to the  ER again and tell them the problem

  14. A neurologist would be the specialist to treat this type of issue. However, most won't see you without a referral from your PCP.

  15. Go to a good gen practice dr. ask around from people that you have known for a while to see who they go to.. if they like them go there.

he can tell you what it maybe be or if it's more serious then he'll recomend you to a specialist. Some specialists you can't even see without a recomendation. I hope you feel better soon and you shouldnt pay that ER bill because they obviously didnt follow protocol.

  16. go to an Eye Doctor and you need to change that is illegal cause they have a shot sometimes

  17. Go to the hospital. They'll get you the right doctors. Maybe try going to a different one than the one you were taken to when you hit your head. But I would just get to a hospital. Anytime you have a head injury and then later vision problems and pain you should act right away. Good luck and I hope they treat you better this time. If not, demand to see another doctor or go somewhere else. Don't settle for nothing when it comes to your own health!
