I can exercise this dog for 1 to 2 hours a day. I can buy him some agility course. I am very active. I am willing to play with him. I can buy him toys.

But the only problem is that I am going to school for 5 hours but i think i will just buy him a small tv so he could hear something while i am gone, so he wont be bored.

i HAVE A BIG BACKYARD

My top choices of dogs are Labrador Retriever, Siberian Husky, German Shepherd, Italian Greyhound, Jack Russell Terrier, beagle, Canaan dog and boxer

But if you have another kind of dog that you think will fit me just tell me and i will consider it.

  1. A dog over 6 months. Maybe a rescue mix of lab and shepherd. Italian greyhounds are very fragile and don't fit in with the other dogs you mentioned.

  2. Five hours a day to be alone isn't that bad for a full grown dog that gets plenty on exercise.  Anyone of those dogs that you mentioned will do great with the amount of time you are willing to put into entertaining them and exercising them.  The only thing to remember is that a siberia huskie is a cold weather dog, if you have hot summers where you live then I would suggest getting a different kind of breed.  SPCA or local dog rescue would probably have a awesome array of dogs to choose from.

  3. The breeds you have chosen are all over the place. They range from very low energy dogs to high energy dogs. Now is not a time to get a dog if u r this undecided. I have an italian greyhound and she is a lazy dog. They are a low maintenance sit around the house dog and will go for walks if thats what u want.Jack Russels are a real high energy dog,so see my point.

There is a rule of thumb with dogs.Always get a dog that equels your energy or less.Never get a dog that has a higher energy than yourself sweetie.

My Iggy (Italian greyhound) i have had for 8 years.I work from home and she is content fitting in with me.On the other hand, I have a black Kelpie, which is as high as energy gets with dogs.He on the other hand needs loads of mental and physical stimulation and exercise.I have to run him 10 mile before he even considers settling into work. If I treated him, like my Iggy,My house and all the contents would be destroyed. He would become bored in 2 seconds flat and destroy everything in sight.

Iggies in my opinion r just the best small dog EVER with kids. Not real good with the toileting tho. I found the best doge ever for me and my energy, was a bull terrier.Best dog I ever had.Got this Kelpie now and he is the best I have EVER had to date. I feel they are one of the smartest breeds ever too.

My kids are often on the net researching dog breeds. I grew up with Dobermanns and both my brothers have a Dobie each now.

U also need to consider your environment too.Are you prepared to put in the time with a long coated dog? Whats your climate like in general?

Dog breeds to consider-: Bernese mountain dogs, english mastiffs or any mastiff breed. It also depends on how big or small you want too.

Shepherds,Dobermanns,Weimaraners are also good. My father in law has a gorgeous Springer Spaniel and he is 80.The dog is high energy but he can cope with it. Ever considered Collies or minature collies?

Google search and it will give you info on every breed available. If you are high energy, then look into kelpies and Heelers, red and blue.

Email me if I can help further, best of luck!

  4. I think a Lab would be best for you they love to exercise and should be ok to leave for a while.  I have a lab and a husky.  I would not recommend a husky because they require a lot of attention very sweet dogs but if left alone they are escape artist and will get out of your yard and they are born runners.  Our husky would jump our block wall when we would leave just for a few hours so now I have a Big dog run on the side of our house that we put in a 6 foot sliding gate to keep her in when we go somewhere.  Good Luck with your choice

  5. i think you should probably stop asking this same question 19389214 times a week.

  6. I really encourage to get a boarder Collie. They are very active and full of energy plus they are very cute too.

  7. Kenneth B, I haven't had any problems with my canaan dog.

  8. i think that you should either get border collie,Pit bull, german shepard.

I would say to stay with the medium to large breed dog.

Border Collie are ver smart and high energy and do great on agility courses.

Pit Bull love to please there owner and love to play

    have lot energy to.

german shepards are great dogs and smart.

I Currently have a one year old Pit Bull ,8 month greay perynesse and a 12 week border collie. they all have energy and love to play in the back yard and go on walks.

So far my pit bull has been the easiest on to train and seems to be the smarter one

  9. you want a big dog the problem is larger dogs ussually feel worse when left alone for a long time. i suggest get a smaller boxer cross breed. they are mellow yet have burst of energy when playful ,they are also easy to train and make great companions, retrivers tend to get very  emotinal and ight not be the best choice for you. a german sheppard would also be a good dog.

  10. I think a lab or a jack russell would fit, all though i would suggest adopting a dog that is over 1 year old so you don't have to deal with as much of the puppy problems (accidents on the floor, chewing) and also you know how high energy the dog is. if i were you i would just go to the shelter near you and ask them the same question you asked us. i can guarantee that they will have a dog for you and he will love you like no other dog could because you sprang him from the doggie jail!!! good luck to you

  11. I think the best dog for you would be a Lab or a Boxer both have alot of energy

  12. Kenneth, you've asked this question 20 times already, didn't the first 19 times do it for you??

Research each breed and then figure out if their temperament and energy level will match yours and go from there.

Since you don't seem to be serious about this question at all, I suggest no dog, however I suggest you get a life TROLL

  13. The Boxer, The Lab, The German Shepherd, or The Siberian Husky.

Those are the right dogs for you. Research each breed, and then pick the one that suits you best.

  14. Check out the basenji.  It's a smaller dog, but equally athletic to the ones you have already mentioned.  It's really unique and not many people have them.

It has a curly tail and the cutest face wrinkles.

  15. border collie, australian shepherd, austrailian cattledog

  16. I like Golden Retrivers because they're cute when they're a puppy and they are kind and gentle dogs. I also like the begle because they have a really good sense of smell.
