What kind of dog is this that I want? Need help finding a good breed.?

Hi,

So I am looking into getting a dog. Now I LOVE German Shepard and the look of them, but they seem to get really skinny and bony. I also like the look of a dutch shepherd but they seem to be smaller than the German Shepard but I like the look even slightly more.

I want a dog with the look of a German Shepard but kind of like the filled out-type build of a lab, yet bigger. So what is a bigger dog it could be crossed with to keep the German Shepard look but make it more filled out and preferably bigger?

you want a giant sized German Shepherd?

The bigger the breed, the shorter they live.

Look into Shiloh Shepherds:130-140-160lbs

depending on the bloodline and gender.

This is not recognized in the AKC:i think they are in the American Rare Breed Association.

I have three German shepherds and love them.  The Belgian Malanois are very similar to the shepherds, just not as big.  My biggest shepherd weighs 115 lbs.  They are by far the best dogs I've ever had.

Okay heres one,....if you do not care if the dog is registered go for the old fashioned German Shepherd Flat Back Lines....they are pretty big...or a King Shepherd...a King shepherd is a cross between a Newfoundland Dog and German Shepherd...years of crossing leave only the Newfie size the rest is shepherd.... Don't get a breed based on looks.  Get a breed that will be the kind of dog you want the dog to be.  What do you want to do with this dog?  Train agility?  Obediece?  Herd Sheep?  Sit and pet it all day and night?  Those are things you need to think about.  Those qualities are what is going to determine what breed is the best for you.  Not looks.

German shepherds to me. are the BEST breed! I love them to pieces! I have 1 who is devoted to his family, and is very protective!  If you get a german shepherd from good breeders, yours will be huge! Mine doesnt realize his own weight. He knocks everything down. But I still love him. Mine weighs 149 lbs. Hes not obese/fat. He is built very big, and has a nice muscular body. People tell us that he is the best looking german shepherd they have ever seen!

i would say an english sheperd

but a malmute or husky are also kind and sweet too.!

A GSD  with German Import Bloodline, or a Czech, are large GSD.
