  1. hi,

to know what type of dog will suit you, you can use this dog finder match up http://tinyurl.com/6gkcok

the goal here is to help you figure out what type of dog best suits you and your personality. The results of the match up will suggest certain breeds.

    hope this helps

  2. Call a greyhound rescue - they are awesome in these situations!!!

  3. chocolate labs are good :D

  4. That 9 hour shift will be really hard for a puppy to be along so I would recommend maybe going to an animal shelter and adopting a grown dog. It sounds like maybe Labs will be good for you, possibly a German Shepherd or a Border Collie (both VERY intelligent dogs but they constantly need excercise).

Since you want to excercise it alot an adult would be best. I have a German Shepherd and he loves to run. I get out my bike and slip on his lead and he runs to the gate and waits for me.

A border collie has herding instincts that often get in the way.

Siberian Huskies need WAY too much excercise and are VERY prone to agressiveness. If you go to a shelter majority of agressive dogs are pits and Huskies. They can be trained to obedience but why take the chance?

Labs are more walkers, not so much runners.

  6. um maybe a border collie would be good.

    im not sure sure. hmm.

    maybe a lab?

  7. I recommend a dog that is one year or older since you'll need it to crate for an adult dog length of time, so you should strongly consider going to a local shelter and checking out the smiles and wags that are available.  The adoption counselor can also ask questions about your lifestyle and direct you to animals that may compliment you really well.

You'll probably fit well with a dog like a labrador or a golden retriever.  Labs are sweet, sometimes stubborn, and sometimes don't really mellow out until after early adulthood (more "puppy spaz" time).  All the goldens I've known have been a little more submissive, but very sweet and seem to mellow out younger, like at about a year old.  You should also peruse www.akc.org and take a peek at the Sporting and Herding groups, though bear in mind that some of them will do better with a large yard to spend most of their time in and some of them will be perfectly happy to live in an apartment and just go out with you for play and exercise.

  8. Where will this dog be for the 9 hours and how will it potty?

    Just something to consider.
