I have a door lock that has 2 door handles, one larger one and under it a smaller one, the deadbolt controls 2 separate little things coming off the door in addition to the lock where the key is used, those little things do serve as little locks but dont have anything needed to control them.

So to recap, the lock/handle that is controlled by the key controls itself along with 2 other smaller things coming off the door. One on top about 2 feet and the other 2 feet to the bottom.
