  1. It depends on the size hole you are wanting to drill, but like the others say. A tile drill bit, which is the diamond bit's will work up to a certain size, but you will want to start with a fairly small bit at first because the bit will try to "wonder" when you first start.

  2. Just go to the hardware store and tell them what you want to do. A diamond bit will do it, but they may be able to suggest something less expensive, that will work.

    .

  3. you would need to use a diamond bit. if you go to the local hardware store they will find you exactly what you need

  4. Best to use a cone shaped grind-stone.

A drill might shatter the glass far too easily

with the concentrated pressure that it needs.

    (Wear gloves & goggles.)

  5. Maybe a tile bit? Not sure, but I would imagine they make glass bits as well. Good Luck!

  6. Use  a diamond bit.

  7. drill the glass with a tile/diamond bit, and you can submerge the jar completely in water (but keep the drill itself out of water with the bit  partially submerged) to prevent the glass from shattering. The dampening of the resonant frequency in which shatters glass from drilling or severe abuse to glass will not exist. It's an old trick of the trade if no other bits work or you shatter most of the jars you drill ;-).
