What kind of drug test do americorps use on applicants?

That depends on where you apply. Americorps volunteers work in community based sites but are governed by one particular site. For example . You might be reporting to an assingned site to work and they might want their volunteers to be drug tested for what ever reason. However, drug testing was not a part of the application process when I was an  Americorps member. It may have been added to the application process,which would not be surprising since most employers now require drug testing. If it has been added it most assuredly is a regular drug test. For say any illegal substances and probably alcohol. Some members  have medical issues and take prescribed medication but that would be listed on the application anyway.

I served two terms and never heard of anyone being tested but then each member is subjected to honor and if a member shows a problem then I would think the Civic Engagement Manger would request that that member be tested, especially since the work we do and did could be slightly dangerous if a person was impaired. Said member could be injured or cause other members to be injured or other volunteers.We Cleared fields,prepared meals,painted homes and removed graffiti,planted,paved,cleared tree limbs,removed debris,worked in offices to assist community residents with everything,food,housing,school base works in local schools to help grade school children learn to read,do homework,help with special projects can mean the whole team goes out,even community based volunteers go out to help schools. We do what ever it takes to build communities. We facilitate meetings and engage the community residents to come out and enjoy and paticipate in local events.We have to speak to local officals, plan events,and request inkind donations to help with events and assist the local non-profits we serve with. It is imperitive that we are at our best while in service. We sometimes drive for miles to give assistance or attend a training.

I think the urine test is used by most now.  It really shows up a lot.
