I am currently looking into a career working with and caring for animals. I have researched marine biology majors, but most of the results say to choose a more varied major, like just biology or zoology instead to allow for more options later on in the field. Does anyone have any advice as to whether a biology major would be a good choice for someone who hopes to work with animals, and if so, any specific programs to recommend? I'm not worried about making good money, just about being able to find the right major that will help find a career in the zoo or animal sanctuary fields.

  2. More important than Higher Education is applied knowledge. It is important to find places to volunteer in the areas that you are interested in. Find people who you want to be. Let them mentor you.  With that said.

Biology is a good general major.  You can minor in your more specified area of biology or zoology. You may even want to consider pre-vet.
