What kind of education do race horse trainers have?

You can be as dumb as p**p on a balloon and they still would be excellent horse trainers. Why? because training a horse is usually passed down from successful trainers .

some just use their own experience and knowledge! if they grew up with horses or know loads about them or whatever!  i don't know about the others!

Well for one when I went for my trainers license I had been showing hunter /jumpers

and was in to just about every riding sport there was

Plus I galloped race horses for top trainers at Santa Anita  etc

I worked very closely with vets learn everything I could

Went to shoeing school for a yr

you really have to know just about everything

Your school education is not important

You will have to know rules on racing ,drugs rules , knowing how to train and where to run him in what he is capable of doing etc and know his legs how to doctor them

and what to do if he goes lame

Lots and lots of stuff

all so one should be able to or has at least galloped before so he knows whats it is like to do it

plus then he can tell a rider what to do etc

You really have to be a all around GOOD horseman-woman

and hands on all the time 7 days a week and 16 hours of hard work

all so the grooming knowing a good groom feed mY LIST JUST GOES ON

You can't take a college course and learn how to train a horse.

It simply doesn't matter.

They know horses. End of story.

Alot  of the time it depends on what kind of horse, were you are what kind of races.............. and so on.................................
