  1. dfsdfd

  2. i am thinkin a mix between an animal control and actual police

  3. Well first I must say,

I've watched Animal Cops on the animal Planet and I love their profession. I'm really happy that you're considering it, it's extremely rewarding!

Carrying on, one of the animal cops started off as a vet assist then a vet tech, and finally reached up to animal cop. Take plenty of Science and wildlife classes and that will help prepare you for your future career!

    Best of Luck! =)

  4. You need a high school diploma. I don't know of any animal controls that make you have a college education. Most places require basic law enforcement and animal handling classes. The animal controls provide you with these after they hire you.

If you are interested in working at an animal control I strongly suggest you volunteer at one first. It's not as pretty as TV makes it look. You have to clean hundreds of cages (not for the weak stomachs), you have to deal with very idiotic people, and many places require the officers to euthanize animals. I was only a part-time in-house employee for an animal control and I had to help euthanize. It's morally and physically hard. You also don't get paid very much at all. One woman I worked with had been an investigator (higher rank than Animal Control Officer), had been working there for 20 years and still made less than 40k a year.

The good thing about animal control is that you get to help many animals find loving homes and better lives. You will also see many animals who had loving homes be dumped at the shelter for stupid reasons, only to be euthanized a week later. It's sad and hard, but also rewarding. Again, volunteering is strongly recommended.

  5. On animal Planet they don't seem to be all that bright to me.

Anyone can tell when an animal is hungry or thirsty.

Why not ask your local animal control what is required for the job.

Some states like mine don't have the cops like Detroit.

We do have animal control though.
