  1. Several companies have produced turbo-prop conversions.  In case you are looking to acquire one, here's a spot to start looking:

  2. Previous answer correct, that's Basler Aviation.

  3. A turboprop, such as the one used on the Basler BT67.

  4. Enclosed is a Wikipedia search for the DC-3.

States the Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Double Wasp radial was the most common engine.  Also states a few were equipped with Pratt & Whitney R-2000 radials.

I have seen the turboprop equipped DC-3's at Oshkosh.  I believe one of the companies that restores, refits, and upgrades DC-3s/C-47s is located at Wittman field in Oshkosh.

  5. There are some turboprop conversions, but they are not very efficient.  Turboprop engines and an unpressurized fuselage are not a very good match.

The DC-3 has 1200 horsepower Pratt & Whitney radials (with a few variations).  That remains the best choice for engines.  There are still a couple of shops operating that can major those engines or sell you a rebuilt one.

  6. There's really nothing wrong with a maintained Pratt & Whitney.
