What kind of entertainment is available on a 12 hour Amtrak train trip? TV, movies, anything?

One of our associates' brother is a train enthusiast. He has ridden all kinds of trains in countries worldwide. He suggests that most of the long haul trains have a lounge car with windows all around and above.  They sell snacks and drinks all day.  The dining car is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, the lounge car attendants usually show several movies each day and evening. Hope this helps. Nope, nothing.  Bring a DVD player, ipod, laptop or a book.  I'd also suggest you wear comfortable clothes (and shoes), since you'll be sleeping at least part of the time if you have nothing to do.

I once took a 16 hour Amtrak train trip but it was many years ago. No TV or anything. They offered a snack bar that was open for a period of time. There was also a "View" area with huge windows to look out.Bring a book, iPod, etc. and sleep a lot.
