What kind of environment would an internet access company work in?

I'm not understanding your question>  I have Comast as my internet service provider.  They operate in an increasingly competitive environment with the phone company & satellite companies getting more aggressive. They also have governmental regulations they must operate in & kick back 5% of their income to the local city hall, along with providing a community access channel.  

And then, they also have the shareholders to contend with as they are a publicly traded corporation.  Many of the shareholder meetings have been contentious, as the return on stockholder equity has been lower than expectations.
