What kind of experience do I need to get on staff with a touring theatre company?

I recently went backstage and talked to the cast with a national touring company and they mentioned that they have dressers to help them with their very fast quick-changes. I'd love to do that or any other job...what kind of experience do I need?

The stagehand union is IATSE you probably need to join that before you can do tours, contact your local Equity theatres, volunteer with them, once you do enough time and gain enough experience you can become a member.
