What kind of eyeliner would be good to use for upper eyelid?

Question

I like putting eyeliner on my lower lid, but would like to try on my upper. I've tried regular eyeliner, but it doesn't go on smoothly. Am I doing something wrong? If not, what else can I use? I know there's liquid eyeliner, too. But when I put that on, it comes out like a messy squiggle, haha.

theres one you can get from avon that comes set in a little pot and you have to apply it with a special brush ( which they also sell) thats pritty good cs its not too hard to apply.  theres also a pen eyeliner by 'No 17' at boots which is really good, it does look like a felt tip but its easy to apply and lasts all day without smudging and, its only about 3 pound

Here's my opinion. Don't use liquid - it is too harsh (that's my experience, anyway).

I really like Estee Lauder's eye pencil - there's one called Slate - it's a charcoal hue and has a smudging tip on one end...it costs around $20, but it lasts me a year (sharpens like a pencil).

If you want to get a less expensive liner, use a Qtip to smudge it out and it will give you a softer look.

Go with the Estee liner if you can - you will be glad you did! :)

P.S. Practice makes perfect on the application - you will love having eyeliner on your upper lid. It makes your eyes stand out even more. Try grabbing the outer corner of your eye with your finger and pulling it tight across and the line will go on smoother. Hope that makes sense.

Covergirls "Perfect Point" eyeliner pencils work great. They go on smooth and have a foam tip on the other end so you smudge it if you want a softer look. They run about $5.00 at Wal-mart.
