  1. I'd say that Bristol was acting out against her mother's ridiculous stance on abstinence only & no s*x ed. She doesn't even believe in condoms being used by married couples!! This poor girl can't win with that kind of a family.

  2. In my opinion?

The value of acceptance of the unexpected in life, instead of intollerance and murder of an innocent.

Drats jovibonjon2 said something worthy of a thumbs up.

  3. Oh its so nice to be perfect.

  4. Are you equally critical of the family values of blacks, hispanics, and the other tribes of the Democratic base  or do your scruples only apply to Republicans?

  5. I'm an unmarried teenage parent - I'd like to see you tell my Mum that she can't instill family values.

  6. well, she is anti-abortion, so I think it looks both good and bad. Heck for all we know it was a ploy from the start, to get publicity.

But at least she's more interested in holding onto her views than hiding from the media

  7. the same family values other decent people have

  8. I suppose it endorses the stick by and support your kids whatever happens value.

  9. Do u think because a young teenage girl who is unmarried is having a baby she & her family has no values ??

she wont be the 1st & certainly wont be the last she has probably kept it a secret for 5 months because of other peoples opinions !!

  10. one of my best friends in the whole wide world is 17 has a lil 1 yr old boy an she is as happy as ever she dosnt mind the fact people look down on her the only thing she hates is people that r nasty bout it

  11. That she is against abortion. Nothing wrong with that.

  12. This young lady is old enough to take responsibility for her own actions. It is no fault of her parents.

  13. If she was one of Joe Biden or Obama children believe me the Republicans, would be all over this one.  Now, of course it is perfectly fine because she is planning on marrying her Baby's Daddy.

  14. The kind of values she believes in. And a whole lot of love and understanding.

I don't think endorse was the right word to use in this case, it seems a little out of touch.

  15. What like that's the only problem going on in the world.

  16. i think its very funny karma biting this anti-abortion right wing  christian has ended up with a unmarried pregnant teenage daughter. now she knows what its like to be a bad parent - where's her jesus now? probably gut laughing some place

  17. its not her fault her daughter got pregnant. I think people will see her as a real person that has the same issues every family in america faces. I agree with Obama hands off the family

  18. Keep digging sweety, I guess you could ask that question to millions of American who have sons and daughters out of wedlock.

  19. Would have it been different if she was 18 in your eyes? Times have changed. Our culture does not adhere to the no s*x before marriage rules of past generations. It happens, life happens. I'm sure her mom was not jumping for joy at the news, but is glad that her daughter and the baby's father are being responsible and have plans for marriage.

It wasn't kept secret for long... what do you think should happen... on Palin's first speech "Hello I'm Sarah Palin and my 17 y/o daughter is pregnant"

This is not part of her politics, and should be left alone. It's a family matter, not a national one.

  20. well it shows the daughter had s*x at seventeen and foolishly got pregnant

it shows that the girl has not used abortion as contraception which is too common a practice - a quick abortion to cover up a 'mistake' which they often go on to repeat

it shows that teenagers do not always behave in a way their parents would like

it shows that it could happen to anyone

it shows the depths people will go to to make political capital

and as for being a secret - just whose business is it?

until last week end most people didn't know too much about the mother let alone the daughter

  21. I'm guessing it shows that her daughter to some extent agrees with her mother's point of view on abortion - in that she's not taken that option, which many girls her age would have done.

Personally I'm pro-choice, but I don't think this revelation does much to damage her as a candidate. McCain has chosen her to appeal to working class women and to some extent the right-wing middle class, but its mainly to get the votes that the Democrats are going to loose by not having Hilary. I think she will still appeal largely to this demographic.

  22. I'm sure it has nothing to do with family values and I don't suppose she sat there and watched her daughter get pregnant. I would rather my daughter NOT marry at such a young age a be possibly trapped in a dead end relationship. Her child will love her but that doesn't mean to say her husband would, just because they have a child. I don't agree with teen pregnancies....children should not have to bring up children. but it's a sad fact that it does happen and we should not make teen marriages another trend.xx

  23. What would you have her do, or indeed what would you?  Publicly condemn your daughter? disown her?  I know.!  How about the stocks and  then we can all pelt her with rotten tomatoes?

Standing by her daughter, after the fact, shows she has more family values,(which I think you are confusing with saving face.) in her little finger, than you have all together.

  24. It would be nice if we all lived in a tidy perfect world but we don't.  How can you really judge a moms family values on the fact that there is an unmarried teen dtr?  You can watch, guide and direct your teen and things will still happen in a blink of an eye.  I think raising kids is the hardest thing I have ever done and it is my top priority.

  25. It happens even to the supposedly best of families. So whats the problem? The teenager could of had an abortion, and no-one would have been the wiser. So the purists of this world will now realise, that even a woman who has risen to the top job of helping to run the greatest country in the world, has an ordinary family that can and will makes mistakes. It is how these mistakes are handled that is much more important. When so many top politicians try to sweep it under the carpet. Clinton who said"I have never had s*x with that woman" comes to mind. So you can have the highest family values. but still head for a fall, that is life, so you pick yourself up, shake your feathers and start afresh again.

  26. I believe that outing frustration by being judgemental is not unusual human behaviour, even when there is no knowledge of the whole story or no apparent reason for the judgement.

What we see in the outside world (the good and the bad) is only the reflection of ourselves.

  27. I guess she should really stop trying to be "ms. family values". That c**p doesn't matter anyway.

We all have our own circumstances and situations in life that lead us one way or another. It doesn't mean we're not good people.

We need to stop trying to hold up this stupid image of what a family is supposed to be like or what we're supposed to think.

People need to stop trying to impress everyone else and just live, d**n we get about 7 to 9 decades to live (if we're lucky) and people spend it all trying to please others.

Let's live for ourselves and "F" anyone who says different!

  28. i think im over the page, and therefore this answer wont be read, but anyway:

i dont think it would have been such a big deal IF the family involved werent such stauch right wingers, god fearing this and that, pro lifers, who by definition politicised the choices that people make with how to live their lives.

therefore, i find it laughable that the spokesmand for mccain, states that the american public will be outtraged if people try to politicise this subject which is a private family matter. Well so is abortion, but she tried to make a ticket on that, and on 'family values' therefore, she should expect polictisings about her own family.

in addtion, im interested in the language that palin used about the future... Bristol 'will' marry the father of the baby. She didnt say, Bristol wants to, or the parents are getting married, or Bristol hopes to,,,,, she said, Bristol WILL be marrying the father of the baby. Sounds to me like Bristol has little say in the matter.

To my mind, this is an outcome of the type of right wing teachings that the children have been indoctrinated with, that is that their s*x education has largely been about 'abstinence' rather than contraception, which as we all know, does not work.

I would also point out that if this had happend to chelsea clinton or a child of obama, then the mileage in it would have been huge from the republican side.

  29. Horrible family values.  Family doesn't seem to be the thing for Palin.  She can pop them out but maybe she should stick around and try and raise them and watch over them.  Seems like her ego is pretty big and isn't that considered a sin for the church lady?   I wish her 15 minutes were up already. She is a yawn like her boss.

  30. Kids make mistakes no matter how hard you try to protect them, no matter how well you've raised them.  At least this girl will have a husband to help her and her family around her.  Unfortunately teenage pregnancy is no big deal in this day and age.

I would be far more concerned about how Mrs Palin plans to cope with a high powered job yet still give a Downs Syndrome baby - which is only 4 or 5 months old - all the love and attention it requires.  She is going to be a working mum away from home a lot of the time and a nanny is no real substitute for a mother's love, especially for a child who will need special care.

  31. I'm more concerned with Palin's very short political career than with a pregnant daughter. McCain is already 70, if something were to happen to him, she would become president. She became Governor ov Alaska in December of 2006, Before that 2 terms as Mayor of a town with less than 7000 people....
