  1. I don't recommend feeder fish because they carry disease that can infect your tank

  2. the problem with feeders are the goldfish, which is the best for him, are often sick. only buy them from a pet store you trust.  I trust A-Z pets but it is very uncomon to find. other wise petco or pets mart but no others!

you should feed him twice a week and once a week give him a third meal of worms, ghost shrimp, or blood worms.

also give him cichlad floating pellets for a third meal for every day of the weak except his special feeding day.

  3. You should only use feeder fish as a treat.  They really don't have the nutrients that your fish is going to need.  Depending on the size you may want to start with something pretty small like really young goldfish or guppies.  I do however recommend that you have a seperate tank for the feeders because a lot of times you find yourself with ones that have ick or velvet.  Always double check your feeders.  Hope this helps.

  4. You should probably use feeder guppies.  They are cheap and easy to breed.  The reason I stress easy to breed is that feeder fish bought at most pet stores tend to be kept in really poor, overcrowded conditions and are often in very poor health and/or diseased.  If you don't want to risk giving your dragon fish some kind of disease every time you feed it live fish, you should breed your own feeder fish.  Guppies are good because a female guppy can carry sperm from a single mating for up to 6 months and drop anywhere from 5 to 100 fry at one time.  If you keep a single male guppy and 3-5 females you should be able to produce lots of guppies to keep your fish fed.
