Unfortunently im looking at having to setup dish service at the home I just bought. Im trying to make since off all the fees and equiptment charges they stick you with. If someone could please help me, how much am I looking at having to spend to setup service? What are all the fees? Do you get better service from dish network or direct tv or are they pretty much the same? If anyone can help, thanks.

  1. When I got DirecTV, I didn't pay anything for setup or equipment.  The only thing I had to do was agree to 2 years of service.  I even got a $100 rebate ($10 off the bill each month for 10 months).

Look in the Sunday newspaper (in the inserts) for specials.  Also, you might be able to find specials on the internet.

The only thng I think is pricey about DirecTV is that you have to pay per month for each hookup (each room).  I have basic DirecTV (because we buy the NFL package in the fall), and then I have cable for the rest of the house because we had hookups in all rooms for cable.

  2. My husband and I have cable at home but we were thinking of switching to direct tv because its cheaper.  But I read several bad reviews on them.  My suggestion for you is just to read the fine print.
