What kind of fence will go with my house, keep our dogs in, and still look friendly?

I have a mission style home (red, metal, "tile" roof, stucco, and those mission beams). Due to unfriendly neighbors, we feel we must fence our yard. So, we want to fence our property but don't want to appear unfriendly or take away value of our home. We're going to fence the entire front yard and put up a 7' fence for the back yard. So, what style/type of fence do you think will work for us considering that we have children, a Great Dane, plus a teeny Chihuahua that we need to keep in and we have a mission style home. I'm not good with style and have no ideas at all right now. Please help!
