What kind of fish can I have in a 1.5 gallon tank?

I know it's really small, but it's all I can have in my room. I have a heater, and a filter is optional. I'm pretty sure the only answer I'm going to get is a betta, but can I have shrimp or a snail in with it? Or are there any really small fish I could have 2-3 of in this tank. Thanks

  1. a male betta, maybe 1 of the small tyoes ofthe snails and no i dont think and tetras can fitin their, dont get a shrimp, just a betta and a small snail, not too many options though a betta will be fine just put like 2 plants or something! good luck!

  2. Don't worry much; I had a betta live with a blue mystery snail (but it happened to stay small; some grow to the size of golf balls) live in a 1 gallon tank.  The betta lived for 8 years; it's fine and should be fine in a 1.5 gallon tank, if you're really on top of things...such as ph and nitrate levels, as well as chlorine and temperature.  Plus, having a snail is an extra bonus, it eats everything that the fish leaves (BUT IT DOES NOT EAT p**p).  You could do fine with this tank; just take care of it, and have fun.

  3. you could do a sail and a few glass shrimp and maybe a plant, but thats about it.

i didnt even know they made tanks that small.

  4. A betta would be good. I wouldn't put snails in it, they reproduce too much.  A couple of guppies might work too. But if you get a male/female combo then they will reproduce too many also.

  5. trust your instincts, a betta at a squeeze is about it.

to the guy who said about fish growing to the size of the tank - this is called stunting - it means the outside of the fish stops growing while the insides continue = very short life and painful death.

  6. i had a betta in a 1.5 gallon tank and it was just fine!!! i cleaned it out every week and he was fine!!! he lived for almost 3 years!!! so i really dont understand y ppl say they cant live in that small of tank!! mine was just fine and urs will be fine also!!!

  7. Nope betta's can live in it. But it's not good, betta's also need big tanks too, to remain healthy. Well I highy recommend just getting a new tank. 1.5gallon hardly has enough room for any fish to swim in. Maybe small fish like tetra's but do not put goldfish.

  8. a betta will survive but it wont be happy

just get shrimp snails and plants and make a mini ecosystem

  9. actually there are quite a few fish that only grow as big as the tank they live in. You could get some mollys. Snails and shrimp will be fine.

  10. gold fish or angelfish
