No question about it - cod.  Cod is great, totally under-rated fish to eat.  Man, just thinking about cod and some chips with a little malted-vinegar - good stuff.  If you've never had fries (chips) with malted vinegar (and your like me who likes ketchup), give it a try - it's really good.

cod would be my first haddock second

but i've had some very tasty snapper (red pacific ) that was also great, scallops and some shrimps would round a meal for me as for the chips a small juliene fry with some chile powder and lime !! ( call it a brit-mex-mix )

I like cod but a lot of places use scrod so ask first.

Britain prefers Cod. Most places in the USA use Pollock from the North Pacific instead. Very similar but I think the Cod is slightly better in texture.

When we lived in the UK - the capitol of fish and chips, it HAD to be cod. But since discovering tilpia, it just can't be beaten for flavour. We bought some cod the other day and it was tasteless by comparison.

You can get tilapia at Cosco or Save on Foods, but if you can't find it, snapper is very good too - and better than cod.
