Tattooed balloon molly, the cruelest thing to do to a fish! It will lose its color ina few months. This is why dying fish should be illegal!

It is cruel, mean and STUPID to dye a fish! It is like giving a human a shot with a pencil, if you compare the needle size to the fish size!

This is a tattooed Molly. I am going to guess at the time you didn't know what it took to get your fish to look like that, and after reading a prior poster's link you are now educated enough about this cruel practice to avoid buying these fish in the future.

The pessimistic side of me is going to tell you that your fish will more than likely die in a few months before or when it starts to lose it color. However, to keep it from dying when you notice that it is starting to lose it color I suggest isolating him in a quarantine tank and adding stress coat to his fish tank once every three days. I also recommend making sure the water quality is impeccable during this time. The tank doesn't have to be big a 2.5 gallon kit with heater and filter will be good for this time period.

Your fish will have low immune problems for the rest of it's life so anytime you add new fish you need to be very watchful of its behavior and at the slightest sign of illness move it to the QT tank and do the stress coat treatment. There is no guarantee that this will work...but it is worth a shot.
