What kind of flash do you recommend for the D40X?

I'm in need of a nicer flas for my d40x. Although I'd like it to be a flash I could use with other cameras as I grow out of the d40x....

I recomment the Nikon SB600 Speedlight or the Nikon SB800 Speedlight. They are said to be the best for this kind of camera.
