What kind of floor is good to tap damce on?

I have been dancing for a very long time. I want to make a studio in my basement. I know I need a certain floor for tapping. I have already been to www.usatap.org but what I really would like to know is, is laminate flooring fine to tap on or must it be hardwoods?

wood is the best, dont tap on wood floors though otherwise parents go mad at the scratches! lol i have lots of experience
buy a wood roll, type them in on google
cheap tap mats on eBay i would imagine
