Question:

What kind of flower did I buy?

I bought this flower plant at the 99cent store, a beautiful plant with bright kind of neon blue flowers, and my mom bought the same kind, only her flowers are purple. The leaves are kind of velvety, my little brother said they almost feel fake, because they are so velvety. the flowers themselves have 4-5 small delicate petals, and in the middle there are 4 tiny yellow pollen things. The stems are also very thick, maybe 2-3 centimeters accross, and there are tons of short stems, leading to tons of leaves, and about 15 smaller flowers in the middle. It'd be a cheaper plant, like i said, 99 cents or something. I'm not sure whether or not to water it every 2 or 4 days, my mom said they like shade, but she's gone today, so can anyone help me?

  4. Sounds like a violet = )

  5. It sounds like an African violet to me. You can google pictures of African violets just to make sure. This kind of flower likes a lot of sun so keep them in a window where they will get enough of it. Feel the soil to see if it needs watering. Probably every other day. If the soil is dry, give it some water. Also, make sure not to give it so much that it is sitting in a pool of water. Try to avoid touching the leaves. I hope this helps!

  6. Without a picture, it's impossible to tell.  Was there a label or plastic thingy stuck in the soil? That may tell you. You'd have to know what kind of plant it is to determine its required care.

  7. Maybe this It's the viola or some people called them violets

  8. make salad with those flowers .. they taste awesome..

  9. Personally, i would water a plant every day and if the plant you have has any shard seeds almost forming a jaw, it is a fly trap so don't stick your finger in it! also if you have a picture of it you could take the picture to a good plant store, they will almost all the time identify it for you!

    Hope this helps!

  10. It does sound like a viola. The velvety leaves make me think of African violets (type of viola), but I'd doubt you'd find that at a 99cent store. I would water it once then watch it closely for a week. When does the soil feel dry on top? When to the leaves look a little limper? Note this day, then water it the previous day from now on. Example, you start watching on Wed. You notice the leaves are a little limp on Sat, which means Fri would've been best for watering, so from now on water every other day, since Fri was 2 days from Wed. Hope it helps!

  11. Oh no, it's a body snatcher!  Get rid of it now before you turn to dust!

  12. Use google image, find a flower that looks like the one you got.

  13. Good  description but a picture who help me better identify it!  Maybe a pansy!

  14. African violet.  Real ones do have a lot more leaves than the fake one.  They like bright indirect light and water only when dry to the touch with warm water.  Fertilize monthy with African violet food.
