What kind of food could we use as bait?

We're going to go fishing for the first time at a nearby pond. But we don't have any bait. Are there any foods they may like that we'll find in our house? I saw some canned tuna but they're not very big fish, will they still like it? Or what about a small raisin or a dried blueberry?

  1. CHEESE make little cheese balls they love it- its Bright orange

  2. Ummm. I would try night crawlers (worms)! you can find them at night you just have to dig a little and you have some.

    bacon is always good

    grapes

canned tuna is great so i would take bits of that

  3. Catfish will eat just about anything, they are scent feeders. You can probably find some worms near the pond or if you must use food try rolling up some bread into a little ball and put it on a hook. In the meat department, hot dogs, and bacon cut up into smaller pieces will t lines!get their attention. The bread will attract smaller fish as it dissolves in the water. If you catch the smaller fish you can use them as bait. Tight lines!

  4. peanutbutter on a hook,cheese,wheaty balls,bologna,hot dogs

  5. i usualy fish with live bait like worms, nightcrawlers, crickets, frogs, lizerds, minnow, crawfish, and al that. but if you whant to use food i usualy use bread, shrimp (not the liveones the ones ready to eat), ham, and for cat fish peaces of turkey, but my friend gets a ton of fishes with peaces of corn. he gets about 6 fishes an hour with corn, try it.

  6. I've had good luck with hot dogs for catfish and panfish and I do well with corn when I fish for carp.

  7. Depends on the fish, catfish will take chicken liver, hotdogs, spam, carp will also take these, trout will go for velveeta cheese, Berkley power bait, salmon eggs(balls  o fire)

Chartreuse works well in the above bait.

  8. hot dogs

  9. size 12 hook or 14 and get some bread and roll it into some small balls to barely cover the hook - no sinker toss it in...also if that doesn't work try no sinker and flattening the bread a little and tossing it in so it floats...should work good - white bread not wheat!!

  10. CORN CORN CORN it works every time. use a bobber or not it works either way.

use the canned stuff it works great and if you get hungry you can always munch on the corn

  11. You very likely don't have any on hand, but go buy a container of chicken livers and sprinkle a hefty dose of garlic salt on them, stir and add some more garlic salt.

That's the only "food" I'd recommend using, anything else is just wasting good groceries.

  12. Some small peices of bacon will work okay. You dont have to cook them. Chicken liver mixed with garlic powder is a good choice too. :)

You can maybe dig up some worms.. and I would take the bits of tuna as well. Good luck!

  13. Can you dig some worms?  All you need is a flower bed with some bare dirt.  sump a bucket of water there and wait about 15-20 minutes and then dig it up.  the worms will come to the surface.  .

  14. i use hot dogs or Bologna in chunks for catfish. i have had no problem catching them with these.

  15. Stuff you can find in your pantry or fridge that can be used as bait include corn kernels, white bread, hot dogs, bacon, cheese, luncheon meat, etc. Really, anything that tastes good to us that can be fitted onto a hook, has a decent chance of attracting a fish.

  16. Catfish love stinky food.  Summer sausage or Slim Jims are good.

  17. Breadballs are one the the best baits ever for bream/panfish.  Also, look for crickets, grasshoppers and worms  on the banks of the pond.
