I know that many serve hot dogs and pizza, but what else do street vendors serve? Oh, and can they be found in just any street corner or would we have to go to a particular street?

  1. There are some around central park who do some ethnic things and some around the MMMA

  2. Depending on where you are they also serve souvlaki, rice, fresh fruits, roasted peanuts & cashews, pistachios, chestnuts, knishes, chicken, beef, bagels, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, donuts, sandwhiches....The foods do vary with the neighborhood.

Some streets don't allow food vendors.

  3. Awarded "Best Street Vendor" was the Dosa man - Sri Lanka - his cart is at Washington Square South and Sullivan Street

Leek pancakes - cart is at Grand and Mott in Chinatown

Tacos - truck on 96th and Broadway - evening and night (they're not allowed to park there before 6pm - really good tacos and quesidillas)

There are also carts selling shish kabobs, curries, hot dogs, shwarmas, nuts, ices and ice creams.  I loved the carved mangos.

  4. You name it! In N.Y.C., Street vendors FROM all over the World, sell "fast food" samplings from all over the World... You HAVEN'T been to the Big Apple- unless you've tried some of them out!  :)
