  1. That sounds delicious. With a 1:30 reception you will want food, yes it will be a late lunch, but think when lunch normally would be, everyone will be at the wedding. If you want to do finger foods and appetizers I would push it back till 3. or even do a twilight theme. But hey it's your wedding, your the bride, what you say goes. This is something we were told: The wedding day if for the bride (she gets her way) and the wedding night is for the groom (that's when he gets his way) everyone cracked up, it really helped to lighten the stressful last minute planning mood (especially hearing that come from your pastor)

  2. Sounds good.  BBQ and Mexican food are popular as well.

  3. Maybe you should have the turkey, corn on the cob and potatoes, and then some finger food and appetizers.

  4. if you are doing 1:30 for budgetary reasons you can  have appetizers stuff since it is before dinner time and after lunch. With that being said my family went to a 1:30 reception ( i was out of town) and complained to me that they was busy they could not have lunch and expected a meal and were starving until they left the reception because they were not aware it was a cocktail reception. So if you budget allows have a full meal on thanksgiving anyways many people eat earlier then dinner time, but if you do not plan on serving a full meal let your guest know. I do not know if that helps you.

  5. id do the lunch

  6. My ceremony is at 1 pm and the reception is from 1:30-5:30 and we are serving heavy appetizers which means we are having enough food for it to be a lunch is people want it.  We also advertised this on our wedding website.  Make sure people know if it's only appetizers.

  7. Since you reception starts at 1:30 I presume that your wedding will be around lunch time so you should have a full lunch and not just fingerfoods.

A thanksgiving theme would be great and filling.

    Good Luck and Best Wishes!!!

  8. I think the whole Thanksgiving theme would be a really good idea and very filling.

Also throw in a few finger foods and dessert they are always good too.

  9. 1:30 is past lunch time. I would serve light appetizers, punch, tea, coffee and cake. Or a dessert and toast reception.

    Good luck

  10. My cousin did a turkey dinner for her December wedding (Christmas theme).  I thik it would be cool for a November or even an October wedding to have a Thanksgiving kind of theme!

  11. Your ideas are great, but I'd skip the corn on the cob.  It's way too messy.

  12. turkery    jello salad
