I am currently 138 pounds and 11 years old. Clearly I'm 50 pounds overweight and I would love to not be overweight. When I was in third grade I wasn't but like 5 pounds overweight, but that summer we kept eating out. And then when I started fourth grade I got on a scale and I was 120 lbs. Before I was 75 pounds so I gain 35 pounds from eating out everyday. I am extremely upset with my parents, because when I am at school I don't get made fun of, but I can tell by the looks people give me. They may not be meant to hurt, but I come home everyday and cry. Wishing there was a simple way to lose weight fast! And by the way I also have acne. If you can, could you help me out?

PS: Stay away from "ZAXBY'S"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks,

Hannah

  1. ok listen I feel your pain cause I used to be overweight myself. the most important thing that you have to realize about weight loss is that there is no "quick fix" or "miracle food" that will make you thin all of a sudden. the only true healthy way to lose weight is to eat healthy foods and avoid all fried and fast foods, no snacks, no soda (its all sugar), and more vegetables! every once in a while though, maybe once a week or something, you should treat yourself to an awesome dessert just so that you dont go crazy. On top of this, you should try to exercise 20-30 minutes a day. If you do these two things, eating more healthily, and exercising a little bit every day you will see definite improvement. You arent going to lose 20 pounds in a week or anything, it will be more like 10-15 pounds over the entire year or something, so do yourself a favor and dont weigh yourself every day, because it will just make you feel like you havent accomplished anything. You have to change your habits, there is no quick fix, and no easy way to do it. Good luck!

  2. No food burns fat.

    That is a myth.

It's all really a simple formula:

If you burn more calories (through your body moving, activities, exercising, etc.) than you eat, you will lose weight.

If you eat more calories than you burn, you GAIN weight.

Everything else you hear is lies coming from all the weight loss scams & businesses. It's all about calories.

I'm in a program put on by Kaiser (my health insurance) called "Healthy Ways" that teaches you how to eat right, lose weight, and never have to diet again.

It's incredible, I've lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks, barely even trying.

Take the program if you can.

Here are a few of the MANY, many things they teach you to control your weight:

    1. Don't clean your plate. The compulsion to 'finish it all' means we eat more than we should, even if we're full, or not hungry. so ALWAYS leave food on your plate. Make it a habit, every time you eat - do NOT finish!

    2. Don't get full. Eat until you're not hungry, not until you're stuffed.

    3. Eat SLOWLY. VERY slowly.

It takes 20 minutes for your brain to feel 'full' from eating, so if you finish before that, you keep eating more.

So take AT LEAST 20 minutes to eat a meal. It's HARD at first, but it only took me about 2 weeks to completely get over this bad habit.

    4. Be more active. Take the stairs instead of elevators, walk more, just keep doing more physical activity.

    5. Always pick the most healthy thing when you eat out. Don't think of eating out as 'a treat', or 'I get to splurge now" or whatever. That's 'fat people thinking'. You need to make these HABITS that you live by, if you want to lose, and not gain it back.

All the fads do, is TEMPORARILY make you lose, but it's always a battle to keep it up, so you gain it back.

All these little steps really add up.

There are more, but I can't spend more time here, so that's all ya get, but this would definitely work!

  4. useless, but raw meat if you decide to sleep less than 9 hours a day

  5. Food doesn't burn fat - exercise burns fat.

When you are 11, you should not worry about this, at all. You should worry more about doing things that will help you develop a healthy self-esteem. Worrying about your weight will not help you do that.

Worry more about the inside than the outside.

  6. no food really helps you "burn fat". there are certain foods you can eat that will boost your metabolism...in turn..helping you burn more calories. green tea is your best bet..when i was your age..the thought of "green tea" was really disgusting to me..but in all honesty..its my favorite tea!! starbucks has really great green tea..so try that. also spinach will do the same...and of course, water.
