  1. i do not advise you to rush to a macaw right away like that...  start off small and gradually get bigger, start off with like a mini macaw like a hahns macaw they are small but still a macaw... then maybe go for a larger breed, large parrots are like kids they need alot of attention and love... plus you need to do some research on hyacinths before you get one... they are big birds, and they eat alot and need a huge cage and they are very spendy to own... you need to make sure that you can afford a bird like this... and have the time ability to properly care for it... get books and paper's on how to care for one and look stuff up on the internet.... go to a local vet and ask questions or a local birds or pet shop that knows alot about them, and ask them questions... good luck but please do not get a macaw until you have done some research on them... and they eat a variety of fruits, nuts, seeds, and veggies...

  2. They eat ficus.  And you should also get them milit, a cuddle bone, a lot of toys, especially mirrows and bells and laders, snacks, like bananas, lettuce, and carrots.  You can ask the person yuo are getting the bird from everything else.  Like what seeds they eat.  Also, you should buy yourself a pair of earplugs.  They squak A LOT!  More than regular birds.  O and by the way,  great choice on chosing an endangerd species.

  3. Macaws don't eat anything different than a regular parrot.  People food, fruits, veggies, bird treats.  Seed I would use as a treat.  Pellets are better see which one he/she likes.  Also, talk to your vet.

  4. Oh you can offer them almost anything you want to. Simply offer them fruit and veggies and what ever they don't eat, don't serve them again. But grapes, peaches, bananas, corn on the cob, mixed veggies, shoot all kinds of things. But never feed them avacodo or chocolate.

  5. Give a steady supply of quality macaw pellets and then supplement that with fruits and vegetables.  Then let it sit near you while you are eating and offer samples.  They will eat a large variety of food.  My birds love the occasional bit of chicken. (Kinda cannibalistic I guess)

  6. Get a book on them it list toxic and non toxic foods.  A base of Zupreem pellets is a good start; then add fesh fruits and veggies.  Go light on fruits they have lots of carbs and sugars.  They will also eat eggs and beans.  Don't feed seed based diets it horrible for birds.
