  1. actually no there are no types of frogs or toads that can be held. all frogs absorb things through thier skin so if you hold it it will absorb the toxins you have in your hands and die.

  2. none they hate to be held.......I hate frogs......

  3. most frogs dont care to be held, i had a whites tree frog though that would let me hold him. but they dont really like it. they are a pet to be viewd

  4. dead frogs

  5. I agree that it's not generally a good idea to hold a frog for too long, but I have an interesting story.

For a long time I had a large male fire belly toad and a much smaller female. The male was a pig and would eat anything and everything I put into his tank. He also wouldn't allow the little female to eat anything. I would try removing him from the tank so the little female could eat, but he hated to be held. He would squirm and kick and absolutely do anything to prevent me from picking him up. I was afraid the female was going to starve.

So my next step was to remove her from the tank and feed her separately. I used tweezers and fed her crickets almost by hand, which is not an easy thing to do. The crickets were tiny and she would often lunge and miss. I would hold her in the palm of my hand and keep at it until she finally was able to swallow the cricket.

I'd let her digest a while and then put her back into the aquarium with pig-boy. I fed her this way for a long time - probably the better part of a year or more.

One day I couldn't find fatso in the aquarium. He had died and sunk to the bottom, so I removed him. The little girl was fine - and some three years later, still is. What's cool now is that when I put my hand into the aquarium, she will calmly crawl onto my palm and wait patiently for her cricket. I wouldn't expect a toad to be able to "learn" like this, but I guess she was hungry enough at the time that my hand-fed technique made an impression.

So anyway, I know of at least one fire belly toad that does like to be held.

  6. No frogs should be held, they all breath and absorb everything through their skin. By holding them you are essentially poisoning them. The salt on your skin is toxic to them, just about everything that could be on your hands could kill them.

Frogs are like fish, nice to look at, bad to touch.
