What kind of fruit was this and where can i get one?

Question

I was on holliday and a local savage gave me a fruit to eat, it was around eight inches long with a peel and a pulpy fruit (which was edible), it had a sweet taste and smell, the savages called it a 'Bannana' has anyone heard of them and can i order them in the UK or Germany

It's called a Monstera deliciosa, they are like a green banana only they are really yummy and taste like a fruit salad with pineapple, mango, jack fruit, paw paw, persimmons, banana, cherries, mulberries and passion fruit. I've got two plants growing in my garden at home, I hope to get fruit off of it this year. (fingers crossed) ask in any fruit store or make best friends with someone who has a plant and get a cutting and grow your own. They grow really well in Australia with the climate here and it takes 18 months to get fruit on them.

Ha Ha  no you can't get them anywhere else in the world beside  Walmart. lol I believe they have  cornered the market.

Could it have been a plantain or just a small mini banana? Probably you find them in some shops, but it's hard, as the European Union made laws about the length and curve angle a proper banana must have. :-(
